CORSA: Protection of Communications, Radio-navigation and Space Assets
The action CORSA focuses on the development of state of the art knowledge and techniques in the field of Digital Signal Acquisition, Processing and Analysis with the aim of identifying innovative and converging solutions in the area of sensors (radar) and wireless communication.
Such solutions aim at supporting the Security Forces of the EU in their task of protecting the EU Citizens through better surveillance systems and more reliable and secure communication networks.
Relying on the scientific capability of the team in the domain of test and measurement in the r.f. and microwave domains as well as in digital signal processing, the efforts are primarily devoted to carry out scientific/technical supporting activities related to three general objectives:
1. Develop and validate suitable algorithms to evaluate the impact of emerging wireless communication (e.g. Ultra Wide Band, Spectrum Management) on existing wireless infrastructure (GSM, UMTS, etc.)
2. Support the development and testing of technologies for ensuring the availability of efficient communications systems for the identified security applications.
3. Technically assist EU to preserve independency with respect to strategic leading-edge technologies in the communications domain while assuring the formation of conditions of freedom in the related communications market.
4. Provide proof-of-concepts/demonstrations of innovative approaches/methods/tools, based on the use of radio frequency and microwave, to respond to specific needs within the identified security tasks.
