Activities

The work of Global Security and Crisis Management Unit is composed of:

  • Institutional activities,  financed as "direct actions" by the EU's Framework Programmes for Research and Development (called Actions).
  • Competitive activities, carried out in partnership with the scientific and business communities or in support to other services of the European Institutions.

Other kind of activities, such as the Exploratory Research Projects, complement the GlobeSec's work.

Robust science for policy making
The mission of the JRC is to provide customer-driven scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies. As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union. Close to the policy-making process, it serves the common interest of the Member States, while being independent of special interests, whether private or national.
