The JRC multi-annual work programme 2007-2013 is the basis for the GlobeSec Unit's current research. Its activities support the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Technological Development.

The research activities of the Unit in FP7 are divided into 5 actions:

• Statistics and Information Technologies for Antifraud and Security (SITAFS)
• Geo-Spatial Information Analysis for Global Security and Stability (ISFEREA)
• Crisis Monitoring and Response Technologies (CRITECH)
• Geospatial Emergency Management Action (GEMMA)
